AGM and ideas for community funding projects wanted

The Fitzwest Forum AGM last week was a great chance to hear about ongoing and future projects funded by the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and to hear Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg speaking about the Fitzrovia environment and how the Council are dealing with environmental issues.

You can read the minutes here.

We were treated to interesting presentations on the following CIL projects:

  • All Souls School Playground Renewal
  • Carburton St Greening
  • Soho Poly Theatre
  • Market Place Greening and Development
  • New Cavendish Street Planters

More details are available on our website: CIL Projects

For those who couldn’t attend or didn’t get a chance to leave their ideas, we would very much like to hear from you.  These further ideas will be added to the suggestions from the AGM and the public meeting earlier in the year.

Ideas for funding should align to the Fitzwest Neighbourhood Plan and the recently amended priorities of Westminster Council which are:

  • Affordable housing (enabling)
  • Green transition
  • Sustainable and active travel
  • Community facilities
  • Accessible and inclusive public spaces

Please email us with your ideas on info@fitzwest.org

REFERENDUM RESULTS – FITZROVIA WEST VOTES YES

We are delighted to announce that following the referendum on Thursday 2nd September a majority of residents and businesses in the area have voted YES to the question:

“Do you want Westminster City Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Fitzrovia West to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

This means the Fitzrovia West Neighbourhood Plan has been adopted.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the Plan. It has been over six years in the making and many residents and businesses have contributed ideas and support. So now the FitzWest Forum will continue to make sure the Plan is followed and to help Fitzrovia West thrive as an area where people want to live and work. If you would like to be involved in making this happen and to have influence and have your opinions heard then please get in touch (info@fitzwest.org) and join the Executive of the FitzWest Forum. We would love to welcome you!

VOTE YES TODAY FOR THE FITZWEST NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

VOTE YES TODAY FOR THE FITZWEST NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

Please remember to vote today. Polls open until 10pm at the Fitzrovia Centre on Foley Street.

A YES vote means that local residents and businesses get a say in planning applications in the Fitzrovia West area. The Plan is a series of policies that have been created with input from residents and businesses over the last 6 years. These policies will influence development for the better in this area and make sure local people have input to planning decisions.

You can see the plan here: Neighbourhood Plan

Fitzrovia West goes to the polls on 2nd September 2021

Fitzrovia West goes to the polls on 2nd September 2021

Less than a week until referendum day

Please remember to vote YES at Fitzrovia Community Centre on Foley Street.

If you have a postal vote – post it today or you can deliver it in person to the Fitzrovia Community Centre on 2nd September.

Your time has come to vote in a referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan. Everyone registered to vote will be able to say whether they want the plan to influence planning decisions and create an improved environment for all those living in, working in and visiting the area.

One of the main functions of the Forum is to prepare a neighbourhood plan. This sets out a series of policies explaining how we’d like to see the area develop over the next 20 years. The plan has been based on extensive consultation and we work closely with community groups, statutory bodies and business organisations such as the New West End Company. The draft plan has been approved by an independent Examiner who has agreed it fits with other plans prepared by Westminster City Council and the Mayor of London.

You can see the plan here: Neighbourhood Plan

Vote YES on 2nd September to agree the plan.

INVITATION TO AGM OF FITZWEST FORUM THURSDAY 8TH JULY 2021 6-8PM

Dear Member

Please join us for the AGM which, due to the ongoing restrictions, will be held via Zoom.

Your attendance at the AGM is particularly important this year as we will be discussing the forthcoming referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan. There will be information available about the Plan and the referendum.

If you wish to attend, please email us at info@fitzwest.org by 4pm on Wednesday 7th July and we will send you the necessary link, password and documents.

We want to make sure the FitzWest Forum is representative of all businesses and residents

We’re keen to ensure that our membership and Executive are fully representative of local residents and workers, since at least 35% of the population is of non-white ethnic origin. So we’re actively seeking new members and particularly to engage people from non-white ethnic groups and younger people.

As part of this aim, we have delivered leaflets to all residents and businesses in the FitzWest area inviting them to the Join the FitzWest Neighbourhood Forum and come to the next Annual Meeting on 17 September 2020 which will be run on Zoom this year.

Please share your ideas on how we could broaden our membership to make it more representative of the FitzWest population by emailing info@fitzwest.org or commenting on this post.

If you are already a member, you could help by spreading the news about the FitzWest Forum to your neighbours and colleagues. Membership is free to local residents and businesses.

The FitzWest Forum is for people concerned about: housing; traffic and deliveries, space for small businesses; the need for more play space and green space; the environment and air quality. The Forum aims to address all these issues and represents those living and working on the Westminster side of Fitzrovia. The Annual Meeting will  report on progress and discuss how to improve the area. A speaker will talk about how to create a Low Traffic Neighbourhood.

If you would like to join the Annual Meeting on 17 September by Zoom please let us know by emailing info@fitzwest.org.

The consultation period for our neighbourhood plan was completed in August and it is now being examined by an independent expert.

Details of the plan are here:

The agenda for the next meeting will be on our website www.fitzwest.org.  For all other enquiries please email info@fitzwest.org.

Make sure your voice is heard.
