FITZWEST INAUGURAL FORUM

Tuesday 14th April

The diversity of people and activities in this area is in danger of irrevocable change. We have seen recent planning applications that take no account of residents or local business. Even where locals and applicants have met and agreed good solutions, the planning officers seem reluctant to include them in their decision.  This is because they are tied by policy.

The only way to change this is to make binding planning policy of our own for FitzWest.  On 14th April the new Forum met.  The Shadow executive was joined by over 65 members of the community.

  1. Is the Fitzwest Forum not taking up the issue of spillover traffic following the pedestrianisation of Oxford St?
Surely the buses / taxis will affect us – both in terms of road safety and also with (even more) pollution?
Why is this not be pursued more energetically?
    Best wishes

    • Dear Caroline,

We are definitely arguing that spillover traffic should not be encouraged. Yesterday I went to a meeting with TFL’s traffic modelers who agreed to ensure that all our major streets will be modeled and mitigation measures put in place (if needed). It’s impact on traffic, pedestrian comfort, safety and pollution that is high on our list of concerns. If you’d like to get more involved I’d be pleased to talk on the phone. 07957 438 666
